Shackleton 04:01
Shackleton Let me take you far away On an expedition To the furthest we can go A place of ice and snow And set adrift On an ice floe We'll lose our way I'll sing to you every day We'd be okay If nothing ever got in the way We'd be alright If you never left my sight We can forget about the rest The complications Take time to build a nest The perfect nation If something goes wrong Will you be strong Will you run away Or will you stay We'd be okay If nothing ever got in the way We'd be alright If you never left my sight We'd be okay If nothing ever got in the way We'd be alright If you never left my side

Electric Blue Printing Machine I've been keeping an archive Of blueprints for the people we've never been I have the keys to all their lives So many doors through which we will never fit I want to do something right, tonight I want to do something right, tonight I wallpaper inside my head With all the pages from everything I've read I count ripples in the air Make systems for the people who are never there I want to do something right, tonight I want to do something right, tonight I'm a professional I'm a professional I'm worth more for parts than a whole professional With obsolete hands and a quiet, invisible spark I'm worth more for parts than a whole professional With obsolete hands and a quiet, invisible spark

Picture Irene I can only ever know you from afar I can't get closer to the fabric of your scars The details in your lining like I've never seen You're turning into someone I've almost never been, Irene I never seem to be what you thought you saw Around a corner, in passing, in awe You don't remember what I was saying Because you did all the talking If we never met, you'd never leave If we never let go of the distance If we never met, you'd never leave If we never let go, we could lead A perfect existence You never end up being that surprise A girl I never ever saw with my own eyes I guess we can't avoid actually meeting But once I find out your real names, you're all the same Just kiss my eyes, don't won't say a word Just touch my mouth, don't be absurd I'll always be new Just because you'll never learn anything about me If we never met, you'd never leave If we never let go of the distance If we never met, you'd never leave If we never let go, we could lead A perfect existence This time, we'll try to stay away At a greater distance every day From here we'll keep waiting For the first time

Airport Echoes It's the last call The PA system says It's your last chance To cross the gate and wait in line If you want to fly at all It's the last plane out To leave from here To take you where you don't want to go Again I stow my bag In the overhead compartment And sit right down Wishing that I'd stayed in your bed I know it won't be long this time No more than a day… or two Before I start badly missing you Again From my window seat Counting rivets on the wing And plastic cups Watching endless nothing float us by But there's a fire in the sky Every time I go That lets me know I have to let you let me go Again

Dead Man's Switch Strange things happen in the night My blood starts boiling, my brain transforming My intentions are twisting into fights Misplaced insecurity splattering all over the walls When the time comes I'll feed on my own blood Push myself over the edge A tightrope walk along the ledge I deplete the vitamins in my brain It makes it so much easier when I turn into a monster I lose my mind Instead of trusting you when you needed me too I lose my mind Instead of trusting you and believing that Everything will be fine I'm sorry girl no one here is safe When the darkness is upon me There's nothing that can stop me I've lost the war against myself I'm turning inside out again My own victim in the end I lose my mind Instead of trusting you when you needed me too I lose my mind Instead of trusting you and believing that Everything will be fine I wish I could Avoid turning you into the enemy And keep you safe when I'm out on a blood spree I wish I was Strong enough to stay away And spare you from the things I'm gonna say

1983 04:14
1983 We started a company
In the first quarter of 1983
We wanted to make people happy
And, of course, make a little money We started worrying
that our 8-bit programming
 Wouldn’t be completed in time
for The shareholders meeting Wait for us
 Soon it will be ready
For fourth quarter entry, maybe We didn’t read the market studies
or analyses
On the viability of our new company In the already saturated videogame industry
We didn't stand a fighting chance of avoiding bankruptcy Wait for us
Soon it will be ready
For fourth quarter entry, maybe When the orders starting coming
 We hired more programmers
 When the deadline came
We'd be ready to start shipping To make sure we'd stay in the running
We hired a flock of managers
 When the deadline came
We were ready to start shipping The industry crashed on the last day of 1983
We had to declare insolvency
 We had to fire everybody
 Soon we will be ready
to start another company

A Letter Before Leaving I watched you wash your feet in the sink I watched you lose your furs in the snow I watched you burn a pie on the stove I watched you drop your necklace down the drain On the day before I left You were angry I couldn't wait to come back And watch you do it all over again And you were beautiful I couldn't wait to come back And watch you do it all over again I watched you bite my cheek until it bled I watched your nails dig trenches in my back I watched you use me while you watched me use you I watched the deepest sleep you drew me into On the night before I left You were fierce I couldn't wait to come back And watch you do it all over again And you were fiery I couldn't wait to come back And watch you do it all over again And during every day that I was gone I watched the films we made I listened to our songs I watched you put a flower print dress over your shoulders I watched you take it off and put on five more I watched you carefully put your makeup on I watched you cry it off in the mirror You were far away I couldn't wait to come back And watch us do it all over again I was far away too I couldn't wait to come back And watch us do it all over again

This Folding House There's another house I built in this one Where the light bends when it touches no one After all this time my ghost needs a place to stay A place made out of everyone you've thrown away It's time for me to go now It's time to some light through I am not the ghost for you I try on new masks for size But they all have the same eyes These lives I see, I try them on I try on new masks for size But they all have the same eyes These lives I see are already gone I keep your ephemera stored in the library My natural museum of personal history I trapped myself inside this folding house for months now Examining the DNA for why and how It's time for me to go now It's time to some light through I am not the ghost for you Screeching all the while my face turns blue I rip up every floorboard for clues I fold the walls and make them new To try and forget there's nothing I can do I try on new masks for size But they all have the same eyes These lives I see, I try them on I try on new masks for size But they all have the same eyes These lives I see are already gone You were someone else before I knew you And you've become someone else again now I've been consorting with ghosts and wasting my time Because you were never there for me to find

The Architect I am the architect I built a city to protect The things that I placed inside You'll never have to hide I populate it with the little things you love And then I put us in a tower high above You love it You need it You wanted it all Wake up And look down At the city I built for you I love it I want it And I need it too As long as you still do I built it for us You didn't like the cracks and the rust Help me fix it up It was built with my hands It was built to your demands Help me finish it She took the only bus She left the city in a rush She left everything I made Everything I gave I was alone inside A city that had died And all the things I made for you Were thinking of leaving too You love it You need it You wanted it all Wake up And look down At the city I built for you I love it I want it And I need it too As long as you still do I built it for us You didn't like the cracks and the rust Help me fix it up It was built with my hands It was built to your demands Help me finish it

Weights and Sinkers   Drill rivets through my knees Screw a helmet to my head Clamp my arms to my sleeves And put on boots of lead   Walk into the Walk into the sea Walk into the My heavy feet are dragging me   On my way down   The air gets thicker underground As I walk further away from sound There's no thinking underwater In my suit of weights and sinkers I've left behind my address Living in standard diving dress A coffin of brass and glass I cut the supply to my breathing gas   Needed to know Needed to know how deep i can go Needed to go Needed to go where no one goes   On my way down   The air gets thicker underground As I walk further away from sound There's no thinking underwater In my suit of weights and sinkers

The Science of Letting Go I've been drawing your lines Making surfaces align Solving your equations Drafting your elevations A place I could hide I put my body inside Dissolved in the concrete mixture Living inside your structure I've been planning you for years But the buildings I've made have disappeared Let go, let go Didn't you know There's a science to letting go So let go, let go It's all over now They tore your walls to the ground Too many things need changing Too much needs rearranging There are other buildings to grow I'll get another shot, I know I'll seek out every commission Submit to every competition This is your call to make I have nothing left that you can take So let go, let go Didn't you know There's a science to letting go Oh let go, let go All the plans I drew I've placed inside balloons I've tied them to a tree an one by one I set them free One day there will be someone to draw me I'll be the building to make A building worth spending a life on
